Harpo Christmas Carols Book 1

Harpo Christmas Carols Book 1

12.50

Arranged by Stephen Dunstone
Twelve carols. Each carol is offered in three formats. 1. Melodies in letter-name form for those learning to read music. 2. the same melodies in conventional notation which can be played with sophisticated fingering or with just the index finger of each hand – or anything in between. 3. A simple left hand part for the more experienced player. These 2-part versions could even be played as duets.

The book comes with a Play Along CD of the carols performed by the Netherwoods Harp Ensemble. Each carol on the CD appears twice: once with both melody and harmony, and once with harmony only so the player can be the soloist with the Ensemble providing the backing. The tracks will soon also be available as MP3 downloads

A Walk by the Waterfalls

A Walk by the Waterfalls

A visit to the Pontneddfechan Waterfalls
Derek Thomas

"I was inspired to write this piece when my three young grandchildren from Florida came to South Wales to explore their family roots. I took them to Pontneddfechan, near Neath, South Wales and I was quite captivated by their infectious joy and delight at experiencing their first waterfalls. My grandson Trevor, having heard my first play-through later was even inspired to take up the harp when he returned to Florida. The piece is in ternary form and I hope as you perform, that you can bring a sense of this joy and wonder to your audience." Derek Thomas

Crossing Waves

Crossing Waves

12.00

Andy Scott

Crossing Waves is inspired by the exploits of Roz Savage, who rowed solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 2005. The eight minute journey of this solo for harp breaks down into three main sections. The first reflects the apprehension and excitement at the start of a daunting journey, navigating sudden changes in weather, and at times relaxing into a regular rhythm. The second section represents stillness, calm, isolation and beauty mid-ocean. The final section displays a sudden release of energy and optimism, knowing that the final leg of the journey is underway an inner strength prevails.
