APUNTE BETICO, winning Harp Solo of the 1952 NCHA Award, was written for LUISA PEQUENO, First Harpist of the National Orchestra, in Madrid. This delightful composition is a rhythmic and colorful musical sketch (Apunte) depicting a section of Southern Spain near the Betico River. Playing time totals about four minutes, and it may be termed an easy piece to play, because it "fits the hand so well," and so generously rewards a little effort.
