| Three pieces inspired by 1920s Jazz Age dance music, specially arranged for clarinet and harp in 2025 for harpist Rachel Talitman and clarinettist Jean-Marc Fessard. 1. HARPING ON: This minor key foxtrot is a considerably expanded version of a piece first published in my Jazz-n-Jive lever harp book. 2. COCKTAIL BLUES: In 2010 the New Zealand National Jazz Festival commissioned me to score a programme of short silent movies from the NZ Film Archive. Each film was introduced by a song, often tongue-in-cheek in nature. This smoochy little number was one of them. It also forms a movement of Decospherics, a suite of Jazz Age dances for harp, and is dedicated to my wife Sharon who sang it so seductively in Jazz at the Movies. 3. SILENT MOVIE RAG: An arrangement of another movement of Decospherics. This one began forming in my head as I queued in a bank in New Zealand during one of the world-famous Napier Art Deco Festivals at which my wife and I regularly performed programmes of 1920s popular songs.
